The House's services are free to our clients who have limited funding for housing, food and other essentials. The House provides clothing, shoes and small household items to our clients in need. The services are free to individuals with limited funding for the aforementioned items regardless of race, creed, gender, age, or size. The House is able to provide these services to our clients through the help of volunteers, donations of new or gently used items, and monetary donations from the community.

How you can help

  • Winter items (coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, boots)
  • Twin size sheets
  • Pots and pans
  • Small appliances
  • ​Christmas lights/decorations

This list will be updated as seasons and/or needs change.

Regardless of race or creed, gender or ethnicity, age or size, the residents of Washtenaw County receive referrals from various social service agencies or faith-based communities to visit the House by the Side of the Road, although a referral is not required. The House is 100% volunteer run and privately funded, with status as a 501(c)(3) organization. Click below to make a donation to help us continue to serve the community!
